By taking on small Castability challenges, the actor targets their skillset toward the genre and character type that they believe would get them the best traction in the industry. For once, the actor is in control. Think you belong in a three-camera sitcom as the funny neighbor? Go for it. Think you’re meant to be the villain in a feature thriller? Your call. After each challenge, you will be given the most actionable feedback ever provided to the actor. Top-level casting directors will evaluate your performance against four other actors performing the same scene. We use these casting directors not for their status, but for their talent honed over many years of evaluating thousands of actors competing for thousands of roles. Here is how it works:You choose the genre and character type challenge of your choice. There you will find a scene we’ve written for the occasion. Using the app, you can shoot the scene as many times as you want, using the in-app scene partner, or by uploading the scene without it.Once you’ve nailed the take, submit it for your first challenge. Once four other actors have submitted the same scene, one of our Casting Curators will review the challenge to provide unique feedback using our Castability method, and to invite one actor into our Castability Gallery. The CurationOne of our Curators will rank the five actors from first place to fifth in four quality metrics:Creativity. Being creative means making unique choices that can surprise, delight, or enhance a performance. It’s making a choice that stands out from the pack. Believability. The believable actor seems never to be acting but instead embodies the role. They are authentically the character, as described within the required specifics of the role - and in the emotional context of the story. Specificity. The specific actor has identified the motivation of the character and is tactical in their scene analysis. In a drama, they don’t miss a beat or a transition, and in a comedy, their timing is impeccable. Personality. Personality is the X Factor. Call it Charisma, sex appeal, great energy, or just a great look. This actor just has something that makes you want to watch them. Finally, the Castability Curator makes the final call: Castability. Simply put, who is best suited for the role. It is not a judgement on the actor’s overall ability. It is a limited, practical decision of which actor best fits the role submitted. All actors, after each challenge, receive a report on their placement, which provides them with insight never before provided to actors. The submission chosen as most castable moves on to the next round where their scene stands against other actors chosen as most castable for the same scene. These rounds continue until one last scene is left standing. Actors receive a star for each round in which they’re chosen, moving up the rankings of the Castability gallery with each additional star. The last actor standing gets a free credit to shoot their next scene.
